Providence Neighborhood Planting Program("Pnpp") Is Dedicated To Increasing And Preserving The Tree Canopy Of The City Of Providence. Under The Program, Small Neighborhood Groups Apply To Have Street Trees Planted In Their Neighborhood. The Trees Are Free To The Neighborhood With The Cost Of The Trees Being Split By Pnpp And The City Of Providence. The Program Serves To Plant Trees In Disadvantaged Neighborhoods, As A Means Of Helping To Build The Community And Bring Together Volunteers. Pnpp Also Works With Other Non-Profit Organizations And The Providence Forestry Division To Educate Citizens About The Benefits Of Trees In Reducing Carbon Emissions, Air Conditioning And Water Runoff.
